A woman comes out of the church, sees two teenagers and insults them with racist slogans.

An incident that happened in front of the new parish church of St. Josef in Holzkirchen.

Pastor Gottfried Doll finds very clear words about this.

Holzkirchen

- "Racism on church grounds - that's not possible!" Under this heading, Pastor Gottfried Doll (54) reports on an incident that recently took place in front of the Church of St. Joseph.

Accordingly, two young people with a migration background sat on the bench below the vicarage.

A woman who came out of the church insulted the two out of nowhere in the worst racist way.

Doll is now threatening to ban this person from the house as soon as he finds out who she is.

He advised the victims of the attack to file a complaint.

Pastor Doll, after a racist incident near the vicarage you will find very clear words on the homepage of the parish association.

Why so hard?

Gottfried Doll:

For me it is a no-go that people who are peacefully staying on the parish premises are treated in this way.

A racist insult is not a trivial offense.

I wanted to show that something like this has severe consequences.

We don't accept that.

People who are racially insulted already have to swallow so much.

I wanted to show them that someone is on their side.

What exactly did the woman say to the youth?

Gottfried Doll:

It was below the belt.

She racially insulted them in the worst way.

In your statement you write that racism is incompatible with the Christian faith.

Gottfried Doll:

That is correct.

God created us as humans.

He didn't divide us according to nationality or any other characteristics.

This is also stated so clearly in the Bible: We are all children of God and as such we have to respect one another.

How did you become aware of the incident?

Gottfried Doll:

Those affected – members of our community – reported the incident to us.

How do you know that's true?

The case of the prominent musician Gil Ofarim, who accused a hotel employee of anti-Semitism in 2021 and then had to answer for defamation, shows that an assessment is sometimes difficult.

Gottfried Doll:

Both of those affected described the incident credibly.

I have no doubt that this is how it happened.

Have you been able to locate the woman who insulted the two youths?

Gottfried Doll:

Unfortunately no.

We have not been able to locate anyone who clearly fits the description.

Of course, it is also conceivable that the woman is not a member of our parish.

Are there any further investigations into this matter?

Gottfried Doll:

No.

Together with the two people affected, we have agreed to leave it at the statement.

It can not only be seen on our homepage, but it is also in the church gazette.

But we will continue to be vigilant.

We have many people with a migration background in our community.

We do not tolerate racism.

I also have a lot to do with people with a migration background in my private life, also because of my foster sons.

Not least for this reason I am so appalled by this event.

Have there been racist incidents in the past?

Gottfried Doll:

No, that was the first time.

And hopefully the last time too.

By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Holzkirchen newsletter.
