FIGAROVOX/INTERVIEW – In his latest essay, Stéphane Rozès sees in the accumulation of crises that Western societies are going through a form of chaos. To analyze it, the essayist proposes a reading grid based on the imagination of peoples.

Chaos is the word that most closely defines what we are facing.

In an unequal and diverse way according to civilizations of course.

But we are witnessing in the West phenomena of anomie of a very rare and very high intensity.

The crises do not follow one another but they sediment, even coagulate: economic and financial crisis, environmental crisis, migratory crisis, geopolitical crises of which Ukraine is only one of the aspects, all in Western societies which are liquefying and where certain even anthropological landmarks are collated by societal claims and technical ruptures.
