The motorcycle club Lions For Kids from Landsham (municipality of Pliening) has two goals: having fun riding a motorcycle and enjoying the support of needy children.

Landsham - With their motorcycle jackets and big machines, they look dangerous at first glance - but don't worry: The members of the motorcycle club Lions For Kids based in Landsham are very nice, ride motorcycles for fun and combine this with social activities.

"We just want to do something good," says 1st board member Frank Schnackenberg.

The association collects donations at events and motorcycle meetings and was present at the Plieningen Christmas market for the first time this year with an organic mulled wine stand.

With the proceeds, the Lions For Kids support projects and organizations such as the outpatient children's hospice in Munich and the Horizont eV.

This Munich-based association has been supporting children and mothers who suddenly find themselves on the streets and are homeless for 25 years.

With safe living space, security and intensive care.

do good on a small scale

Shortly before Christmas, the Landsham association Lions For Kids invited twelve horizon children and their companions to the Advent breakfast in Munich's Hard Rock Café.

A nice change for the girls and boys, even Santa Claus stopped by for a short visit.

(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Ebersberg newsletter.)

"We had a social spirit from the start," says CEO Frank Schnackenberg.

Founded in 2018, the association currently has eight members.

Small but energetic and social.

"We're not a motorcycle club," emphasizes Schnackenberg.

Although the members wear motorcycle cowls and each board member has their own name (Schnackenberg, for example, "Castle"), that's about it.

It is the joy of motorcycling as a hobby and doing good that makes the Lions For Kids association what it is.

Motorcycle trips and fundraisers

"We tend to go on smaller tours," says Schnackenberg.

And once a year there is a club outing with an overnight stay in the western town of Pullman City in Lower Bavaria.

Wherever possible, members collect donations to bring joy to children.

This can also be the purchase of a musical instrument that a family or a mother cannot afford for the child.

Little help on a small scale, from "tough guys" (and girls, of course there are also women in the club), of whom nobody need be afraid.

New members are welcome, says board member Frank Schnackenberg, who drives a Harley Davidson himself.

However, this is not a prerequisite for becoming a member.

"We're a mixed bag and we also take on pillions," he says.

The only requirement: the motorcycle (regardless of the brand) must be at least 100 km/h fast.

"So that we don't have to wait so long when we go on trips together," says Schnackenberg with a smile.
