Hausham – Hausham's mayor, Jens Zangenfeind, described the senior citizens' Christmas, which had to be canceled for two years, as a highlight of the pre-Christmas period.

This year the community of Hausham invited again and around 240 seniors spent a nice afternoon in the hall of the Alpengasthof Glück Auf.

Four envelopes, each with 250 euros, were handed over to the AWO Hausham, the VdK Hausham, the Elisabethenverein and the cozy group in Agatharied.

This was made possible by a charity Advent concert organized by Walter Holzfurtner, whose proceeds from donations were doubled by the community to 1,000 euros.

"We sincerely thank you, who are here today, and the senior citizens, who unfortunately could not come, for laying the foundation for our prosperity and security," said Zangenfeind as a welcome to the well-filled hall.

He also recalled that this generation worked hard for a long time, often had to do without a lot and had to go through bad times: "What many people in Ukraine are currently having to endure was also a terrible fate for you, sometimes for years."

In the opinion of the head of the town hall, the older fellow citizens of Hausham play a key role in a strong and social local community: “Not only can we learn a lot from you, you are also committed to ensuring that the cement between old and young in our community holds together so well.” As a nice gesture, the kindergarten children also put on a great performance, which was rewarded with a lot of applause.

The congregation was happy to double the donation of 500 euros that Walter Holzfurtner collected at the beginning of December during an Advent carol in the Catholic parish church of St. Anton.

The Schlierseerer Alpenchor conducted by Timm Tzschaschel, the Scheeleit'n-Musi, the Kirchtalanger Dreigsang and the brass band of the Schlierach/Leitzachtal music school as well as Regina Biegl on the zither and Johannes Mehringer as moderators performed with free admission.

"That was the eleventh Advent singing that I was allowed to organize, and since the church and the year-round crèche have benefited from it so far, I thought it should be the seniors' turn this time," explained Holzfurtner and added with a wink: "But not because I do too am already one."

In the end, there was a lot of talking, laughing and, of course, good food in the best of moods.

The cozy and Advent afternoon was framed by musical performances moderated by Martin Riedl.
