At Christmas in particular, heaps of wrapping paper pile up in German living rooms.
With this life hack you need less of it.
Munich - Christmas is just around the corner - but even during the year there are birthdays or anniversaries for which you have to wrap gifts.
With this life hack you save on wrapping paper - it's good for the environment, and also feels pretty clever once you get the hang of it.
The tip comes from the Reddit sub-platform Lifefhacks and features a short video of a person wrapping a box in what is arguably the most common gift-giving style: a book.
The trick here is the correct positioning on the sparsely dimensioned wrapping paper.
If you rotate it 45 degrees and place it diagonally on the paper, you need significantly less packaging than if you place it parallel to the edge.
The video, which has already collected 6,300 upvotes (as of December 22, 2022, 2:18 p.m.), also shows other extra hacks: How to install a "zip loop" like in a flat postal package, how to create one in an unusual way including a bow, how to tie gift bags without duct tape, and how to conveniently make room for a card in a gift.
Reddit users are annoyed that the video ends so abruptly
Reddit users are celebrating the video — but are also annoyed that it ended so abruptly amid the next few packaging tips.
"I thought it was absolutely beautiful.
I grew up in the 90's and I remember recording things on VHS, and when you Z" - alluding to the unexpected ending of the video.
Worse still, at the end the video probably shows a tip on how consumers can pack without adhesive tape.
After all, most users take it with humor: "I guess the video also ran out of tape."

Whatever method you've tried to use to open coconuts, you probably won't be able to do this clever lifehack.
