Two men were indicted on December 16 and placed in pre-trial detention for murder, suspected of having killed a 34-year-old man with a firearm in December 2021, AFP learned on Friday December 23 from the Metz prosecutor's office.
Born in 1996 and 1997, they had already been convicted "
for drug trafficking
", said the public prosecutor, Yves Badorc.
The victim, who worked as a taxi driver, had been shot dead in front of his home in Maizières-lès-Metz (Moselle), on the night of December 15 to 16, 2021, "
against the background of former drug trafficking
", added the magistrate.
The autopsy had confirmed the presence
of “numerous bullet holes
” and that the man “
had died following several shots from a small caliber firearm
”, the prosecution had indicated.

The prosecution then opened a judicial investigation for “
murder
” and the investigation, which promised to be “
complex
” according to the prosecutor, had been entrusted to the gendarmes of the Metz research section.
The two men were also indicted for the theft of the vehicle used in the crime.
