Members of the special duty team of Wong Tai Sin Police District raided a tin house in Nga Tsin Wai this afternoon (23rd), smashed a suspected illegal mahjong gambling stall, and arrested 5 men and women.

Regarding the Wong Tai Sin case, the police raided a tin house in Nga Tsin Wai at about 2:30 this afternoon and smashed a suspected illegal mahjong gambling stall.

Among them, a 57-year-old local man surnamed Wu was arrested on suspicion of "operating a gambling establishment".

Another two local men and two local women in the unit, aged between 66 and 70, were arrested on suspicion of "gambling in a gambling establishment".

The police also seized two electric mahjong tables, about 2,000 yuan in gambling money and a batch of gambling paraphernalia.

In addition, officers from the Special Duty Team of the Tsuen Wan Police District launched an anti-illegal street gambling operation at the Shek Pik Relocation Village Playground in Tsuen Wan at around 5:00 this afternoon. Three local men and one non-Chinese man were arrested, aged between 40 and 74. Suspected of "gambling in any venue other than a casino or on the street".

Police also seized gambling paraphernalia and a small amount of cash.

The police reiterated that according to the "Gambling Ordinance" Chapter 148 of the Laws of Hong Kong, operating a gambling establishment and gambling in a gambling establishment are serious crimes.
