Region - The renewal of the railway lines in the Oberland and Werdenfels will continue in 2023.

From mid-March it is the turn of the route between Tutzing and Kochel.

Last but not least, due to the train accident in Burgrain this year, Deutsche Bahn (DB) is increasingly relying on safety checks along the routes and digging deep into their pockets for maintenance work.

DB is continuing the extensive investment program with a volume of over 80 million euros for the rehabilitation of the routes.

The first measures were completed this year.

Since June, the DB had eliminated so-called slow-moving sections in numerous places in the Werdenfelser Land and in the Oberland and carried out renewal work on the tracks.

Among other things, rails and sleepers were changed.

program until 2025

The modernization of the routes will continue in 2023.

Plans for this are currently in full swing, company spokesmen report.

With the modernization, DB is relying on a fundamental renewal of rails, sleepers and the track substructure.

By 2025, the routes Tutzing - Garmisch - Mittenwald, Weilheim - Geltendorf, Weilheim - Schongau, Tutzing - Kochel and Murnau - Oberammergau as well as Holzkirchen - Rosenheim, Holzkirchen - Lenggries and Holzkirchen - Schliersee - Bayrischzell should benefit from the investment program.

According to Bahn, investment programs are also being examined for other routes in regional transport.

According to the current status, around 42 kilometers of track are to be renewed in 2023 on the Tutzing - Garmisch, Garmisch - Griesen and Garmisch - Mittenwald routes.

The focus is also on the station tracks and switches in Bichl, Kaltenbrunn, Klais, Geltendorf and Utting.

The exact blocking periods are currently being worked out and coordinated.

It is said that passengers will be informed in good time about changes to the timetable and route closures.

Bus from Penzberg to Kochel

The extensive renewal of the overhead line on the Kochelseebahn, which runs from Tutzing to Kochel, from March to December 2023 has also been planned for a long time.

replaced by buses between Tutzing and Kochel from April 12 to April 29 and from June 12 to August 3.

This affects the route with the stops in Tutzing, Bernried, Seeshaupt, Iffeldorf, Penzberg, Bichl, Benediktbeuern and Kochel.

From August 4th to September 16th and from October 5th to December 10th buses will be used between Penzberg and Kochel.

The replacement timetable is currently being created.
