Anxious to protect the French from the explosion of heating costs, the government has multiplied targeted aid in recent months.
After the check for homes heating with oil, it is the turn of holders of wood or pellet heaters to receive their boost.
The latter takes the form of an exceptional cheque, which may be requested from Tuesday 27 December.

Why this help?
Logs and pellets have seen their prices soar in recent months in a context of galloping inflation.
The first suffered a 20% premium, according to industry professionals, at the same time, the second became twice as expensive.
However, wood remains the most interesting source of energy.
Reported in kilowatt hours (KWh), a log costs 0.038 euro, against 0.088 euro for gas and 0.174 euro for EDF electricity.
When will it be available?
Households will be able to apply from December 27, and until April 30, 2023, specifies the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
Checks will be sent “
from mid-February 2023
”.
Who can benefit from it?
The “
wood check
” should benefit many households.
France ranks first among European countries using wood as a source of energy.
A third of homes would use it as a main or back-up source for heating.
However, given the different conditions, “
only
” 2.6 million French people would be eligible for this aid, i.e. 70% of households heating with wood, according to Bercy.
Note that the aid is paid subject to income: for single people, the ceiling is set at 2260 euros per month.
For a family with two children, the limit is 4750 euros.
What is its amount?
The amount varies according to income and the source of the fuel used.
For those who use logs, the maximum aid will not exceed 100 euros, or even 50 euros for less modest households.
Conversely, households that use pellets will be entitled to a maximum of 200 euros.
How to request it?
Unlike the exceptional aid for fuel oil, sent automatically, this time you have to connect, with an invoice, to the government site chequeboisfioul.asp-public.fr.
The site will tell you if you are eligible for assistance, depending on your situation.
