Washington is considering training Kiev's soldiers in the US

8.41 a.m .:

According to a media report, the US Department of Defense is considering training Ukrainian soldiers on the Patriot air defense system at a military base in the USA.

The website "Politico" reported on Thursday (local time), citing two Pentagon officials.

So far, after the Russian invasion of Ukraine at the end of February, Ukrainian soldiers have only been trained on various weapon systems within Europe, including in Germany.

Carrying out the Patriot training in Europe is possible, but there are more logistical difficulties, said one of the employees.

A Pentagon spokesman declined to comment, according to Politico.

The US is Ukraine's main ally.

They support the country in defending against Russia's attack with military equipment and money, among other things.

On the occasion of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's visit to Washington on Wednesday, the United States announced another military aid package worth 1.85 billion US dollars (around 1.7 billion euros).

Also included is a Patriot battery.

The air defense system is likely to complicate Russia's missile and drone attacks on civilian infrastructure in Ukraine.

Apparently, parts of the Mariupol theater were demolished by Russian invaders

8:25 a.m.:

The attack on the Mariupol theater in March killed several hundred people who had sought protection from the Russian attacks there.

At least one bomb, most likely sent by Russia, hit the theater, despite the fact that the Russian word for children, »Дети«, was written in large white letters in front and behind the theater.

Now the Russian occupiers of the city have apparently demolished parts of the theater.

The occupiers have already "torn down half of the theater," wrote Petro Andryushchenko, an adviser to the Ukrainian mayor, on Telegram.

"So in two days there won't even be a physical memory of it," he mused.

The parts of the building presented "direct evidence of the war crimes of the Russian army," Andryushchenko claimed.

He published a video that should show the demolition of parts of the building.

The information from the occupied city has so far not been independently verifiable.

Satellite images from early December had previously shown that the Russian occupiers had erected high scaffolding around the badly damaged building, over which a printed tarpaulin was stretched.
