The police have been pursuing for two days. This morning (23rd) the 65-year-old woman surnamed Shi surrendered herself to the police station. She was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage.
According to sources, Mrs. Shi lives in Lantian and works as a cashier.
Footage of her throwing rocks at the bus was widely circulated online, and her daughter, seeing the footage, told her mother to turn herself in to the police.
The incident started at noon on Wednesday, when a video went viral on social networking sites, showing a woman in Tseung Kwan O who was not wearing a mask. Suspecting that she failed to catch up with the bus, after catching up with the bus that had left the station, she picked up a roadside stone and smashed the boarding door of the bus. The glass door shattered immediately, and the woman turned around and left.
No one was injured in the incident and the driver called the police.
The police responded to the inquiry afterwards and said that the incident occurred at about 7:00 in the morning. The 35-year-old bus driver surnamed Yan was driving the No. 694 bus in the direction of Cuilin Village. A female passer-by rushed up from behind and smashed the door glass with a stone, while slapping the body with her hands continuously.
Police are treating the case as "criminal damage" and are looking for the woman involved.
At about 8:50 this morning, Shi Fu surrendered herself to the Tseung Kwan O Police Station. After investigation, the police arrested her for criminal damage. She has been released on bail and will report to the police in early February next year.
