One person was killed and another injured when a small plane crashed on Santa Monica Beach in the US state of California.
"A Cessna 150 crashed while trying to make an emergency landing just meters from the Santa Monica Pier in California, killing a passenger and injuring the pilot," said Ian Gregorian, a spokesman for the US Federal Aviation Administration, according to Agence France-Presse. The pilot reported engine problems after take-off from Santa Monica Airport.
Grigorian pointed out that the investigation is still underway to ascertain the circumstances of the accident.
Beachgoers saw the small plane hit the beach violently and flip over as the pilot attempted to land on the sand.
The US authorities announced on the twentieth of last month that four people were killed as a result of a small plane crash in Washington state.
