Three people including a child died and eleven were injured on Saturday evening in a pileup on the A1 near Herbécourt (Somme), AFP learned from the firefighters.
The collision, which occurred in the early evening, involved three vehicles according to firefighters and the Bison smart road information center, near Herbécourt in the Lille-Paris direction.
According to the firefighters, three of the five people present on board a first vehicle, registered in Romania, died, two adults and a child.
The other two occupants are in relative emergency.
In the other two vehicles involved, nine people were injured more lightly, according to firefighters.

The eleven people in relative emergency were all taken care of and transported to three hospitals in the department, in Péronne, Montdidier and Amiens.
More than fifteen firefighter vehicles were mobilized, as well as the gendarmerie and various medical vehicles from the SAMU.
The highway was not cut but traffic was reduced to one lane, according to firefighters.
