Twenty million euros to save Villa Verdi, the residence of Villanova d'Arda in the Piacenza area, where the great composer Giuseppe Verdi lived for about fifty years: they have been allocated in the new budget law approved by the Chamber.
The news comes exactly one month after the visit to Villa Verdi by the Minister of Culture, Gennaro Sangiuliano, who had confirmed the Government's commitment to save the residence, destined for sale at auction due to disagreements between the heirs.
"We can only be satisfied and happy for this important result, which rewards the joint effort made by the Government, the Region and all the bodies involved to protect an Italian and European heritage - said the president Stefano Bonaccini and the councilor for culture and Landscape, Mauro Felicori-. From the outset, when the risk that this collective asset could be lost was feared, we made a commitment to do everything in our power to safeguard it. A commitment that we are ready to confirm and renew , for example by guaranteeing the opening to the public of this extraordinary place. We thank - added Bonaccini and Felicori - in particular Minister Sangiuliano, the Government and all the institutions that have worked, and will work together, for the protection of Villa Verdi and Verdi's places".
