Today, the Pakistani army announced that one of its soldiers and a gunman were killed in an exchange of fire in the northwest of the country.
The Associated Press news agency quoted an army statement today: A group of gunmen tried to enter the country, and an exchange of fire took place in the Sambaza district of Job province near the Afghan border, killing a soldier and a gunman and wounding two other soldiers.
Two people, one of them a Pakistani policeman, were killed yesterday, and six others were wounded when a car bomb exploded at a checkpoint in the capital, Islamabad.
