An indictment was filed against police officer Raz Gadir, after he was caught during a traffic violation and attacked a police officer who asked him to identify himself to him.

The police investigation department submitted the indictment to the Haifa Magistrate's Court today (Sunday). 

According to the indictment, submitted through attorney Rotem David, the accused was driving with his family members on a dirt road near Bir el Maksor with his children sitting on his lap and his wife's lap and the four of them were not wearing seat belts. An undercover police car that passed by stopped next to the accused's car. The driver of the police car demanded the accused to identify himself to him and the accused refused.

Because of this, the accused was detained at the police station for identification, then the accused pushed one of the police officers several times, was arrested and during the arrest shouted at the police officers "You are criminals, you are trash, wait what happens to you, you don't know who I am".

The indictment charges the accused with committing crimes of assaulting a police officer while performing his duty, obstructing a police officer while performing his duty, reckless driving, violation of the obligation to seat children in the vehicle and violation of the obligation to wear a seat belt.

The investigation was conducted by the North team in the police investigation department.

Meanwhile, the Traffic Division of the Israel Police announced that since the beginning of 2022, 353 accidents have occurred due to dangerous overtaking.

26 people were killed, 812 were injured.
