On December 31st, an era comes to an end in Peißenberg: "Blumen Ferchl" closes.
The traditional Peißenberg company was founded in 1911 and is managed by the fourth generation.
Peißenberg – It has long been an open secret in Peißenberg that the "Ferchl" will close at the end of the year.
The employees had received their notices weeks ago.
The traditional company, which is known and loved in the market town and beyond for quality in the areas of "horticulture" and "floristry", only announced a few days before the final closure that it would be closed from January 1st .
Thanks to the loyal customers
Corresponding advertisements were published on Thursday in this newspaper and on the homepage and on the Facebook page of the family business: "Dear customers, our business in Peißenberg will be closed from January 1st, 2023.
We would like to thank you for the years of customer loyalty," it says.
The nursery was founded in 1911 by Ludwig Ferchl, the master nursery in Polling and Peißenberg.
The history of the company began with a nursery whose fields reached as far as the Guggenberg.
In the 1950s, the first ornamental plants were delivered to Peißenberg from Italy and the upswing began.
After 111 years it's over
After 111 years of "Blumen Ferchl" and in the fourth generation, it's over at the end of the year.
Ludwig Ferchl and his wife Rudolfine took over the traditional company in 1982.
The two would like to retire for reasons of age, as Rudolfine Ferchl says: "We were happy to run our business to the end, but due to age it can't go on like this." In recent years they have been supported by their two children.
Son Maxi is a trained master gardener and daughter Anna is a florist.
The two obviously do not take over the flourishing business.
It is not yet known what will become of the 4,000 square meters of greenhouse space and the 600 square meters of retail space in the middle of Peißenberg.
Great regret in Peißenberg
"Blumen Ferchl" and "Wohnwagen Gérard" were the first two companies in 2019 to receive the "Peißenberg Business Prize".
At that time, Patricia Punzet, economics officer for the market town council, outlined the history of the “Ferchl” horticulture and floristry company.
The company has managed to be one of the most popular shops in Peißenberg to this day, Punzet said at the time.
At the time, the company had ten full-time employees and a large number of seasonal workers.
You will have to look for new jobs or have already looked for them.
