To the sound of protests in the plenum, the Ben Gabir law passed in the first reading (Knesset Channel)
Former Meretz chairman Zehava Galon filed a libel suit today against Otzma Yehudit chairman Itamar Ben Gvir for claiming during the last election campaign that Galon threw stones at an IDF soldier. Ben Gvir himself sued Galon for libel during the election campaign in response to her calling The same "only supporter of terrorism in the Knesset", a lawsuit that was first published in Walla.
Galon filed today, through lawyers Michael Spard and Alon Sapir, a counterclaim as well as a response to Ben Gabir's lawsuit in which she demands that his lawsuit be dismissed outright. On behalf of Galon, it was stated that her lawsuit is about Ben Gvir's words in the last election campaign, "which were said in a completely false manner that the prosecutor threw stones at IDF soldiers, in an event 20 years ago, a fictional and defamatory story that never happened".
He said these things in an interview with Dana Weiss, and repeated them on his Twitter account.
Galon's lawsuit states that Ben Gvir "spread a false story designed to discredit and portray her as someone who resorted to violence against IDF soldiers, with gross bad faith and in a manner that crosses every possible boundary, even with the poor standards of statements during a tumultuous election campaign." Also, Galon demands the removal On the brink of Ben Gvir's claim against her: "It is difficult to imagine a claim that deserves more than this claim to be rejected outright as a silence claim, and mainly due to the clear intention arising from it to harm a political opponent through the use of Noel's defamation law".

Last October it was published in Walla that Ben Gabir filed a lawsuit for 300,000 shekels against Galon - after he claimed she published "slanders and lies" against him on her social networks, and called him, among other things, "the only supporter of terrorism in the Knesset".
The lawsuit alleges that he suffered "valuable damage estimated at millions of shekels".
Ben Gvir said after filing the lawsuit that "If there is anyone close to the nickname 'supporter of terror' that Galon called me, it is herself, but recently it was revealed that she had previously participated in throwing stones at IDF soldiers, and today she adheres to cooperation with the members of the joint that support terrorists of the terrorist organization 'Gov Aryot'.
Galon's lies and defamations have a price - which she will pay in court."
