Tension is rising in pharmacies in France.

The triple winter epidemic of Covid, bronchiolitis and influenza has caused the demand for medicines to explode, in particular those intended for children, the purchases of which have almost doubled compared to the same period last year.

Stocks are almost non-existent.

More than 70% of pharmacies report having a shortage of pediatric amoxicillin, supplied by around fifteen manufacturers.

Same thing for pediatric paracetamol (Doliprane, Efferalgan).

“We sold 1,650 bottles of Doliprane syrups over the whole year, compared to 909 last year, with a strong acceleration since November,

notes Philippe Besset, pharmacist in Limoux (Aude), at the head of the Federation. French pharmaceutical unions (FSPF).

All pharmacies are concerned.

We fear that the contamination will worsen with parties and family gatherings.
