Sorting things out: these are the positions that remain with the Likud Israel today

A decisive week in Likud: few positions for senior Knesset members • Netanyahu's goal: to break up the internal faction built by senior party leaders Katz, Amsalem and Bitan

Yariv Levin will deliver the "Ala Bidi" announcement tomorrow (Monday) in the Knesset plenum, and Netanyahu will have a few days left to form his government.

In front of him stands his biggest headache - the division of roles in Likud.

For nearly two months, Likud members have been biting their nails waiting to hear what portfolio Netanyahu has designated for them. According to Likud estimates, Netanyahu will wait until the last few days and distribute the positions only about 48 to 36 hours before the final deadline for forming the government.

Likud officials estimated that the order of meetings with the MKs depends on the size of the conflict with the case to be handed over. A senior Likud official told Israel Hayom: "The better your situation, the sooner you go in.

Give me the order of arrivals and I'll tell you the order of positions.

Thus, for example, in the case of Gallant, he will enter, accept the position of Minister of Defense, say 'thank you and peace' and leave.

Those with whom there is a conflict will probably enter last."

Netanyahu will distribute 17 government portfolios as well as the position of Speaker of the Knesset, chairmanship of committees and the positions of deputy ministers. Contrary to previous times, Netanyahu does indeed have a large number of portfolios to distribute, but the battle for senior portfolios has become particularly difficult. Among those who consider themselves worthy of senior positions are rival Knesset members Levin, Eli Cohen, Amir Ohana, Dodi Amsalem, Yoav Galant, Israel Katz, Miri Regev, Nir Barkat, and more.

Apart from the security portfolio that goes to Yoav Galant and the justice portfolio that will most likely be handed over to Yariv Levin, the identity of the other ministers is shrouded in mystery.

The names of Amir Ohana, Israel Katz and Ron Dermer are mentioned for the foreign affairs file, and the possibility of rotation in the position is also being considered. Ohana is also a candidate for the position of Speaker of the Knesset.

The names of Eli Cohen, Miri Regev and Nir Barkat are mentioned in the transportation and education files.

Most of the attention in the division of duties will be directed to several main focal points.

According to estimates, Netanyahu would like to break up the "Katz-Betan-Amsalem faction" by giving a significant role to Katz or to Amsalem, who stated that he would only agree to take the position of Minister of Justice or Speaker of the Knesset.

Another source of controversy is around Galit Distel-Atbarian, with whom Netanyahu held several personal meetings after informing her that despite the loyalty she had shown, she would not hold the position of minister.

It is estimated that Netanyahu will offer her the position of deputy minister, but Distel would prefer in that case to remain in the Knesset.
