An update will make the application unavailable to certain devices dating back several years, reports the specialized media Phonandroid.
If he mentions the date of December 31, this date is not officially communicated by the application.
Two iPhones would be affected by this update: the 5 and the 5c.
Supporting tests, the specialized media iGeneration reports, however, that it is already impossible to use WhatsApp there.
The instant messaging application is actually only available on Apple devices that have, at least, the iOS 12 operating system.
Older Androids no longer supported
On the Android side, it is the operating systems below version 4.1 that will be abandoned by WhatsApp: if your smartphone can be updated to a supportable version, do so;
otherwise, you need to switch devices.
“If we stop supporting your operating system, you will be notified and reminded repeatedly to upgrade your device to continue using WhatsApp,” the messaging on its website says.
“To keep pace with the latest technological advancements, we regularly stop supporting older operating systems to devote our resources to supporting the latest systems,” explains WhatsApp.
In the past, and on a regular basis, phones are regularly put aside by the application.
