At the end of the year, the Stelmaszek era ended in the Königsdorf bakery: a new phase of life began for Konrad Stelmaszek.
Königsdorf – A new life begins for Maria and Konrad Stelmaszek a few days after the handover of the “Königsdorfer Backstube”: sleeping longer in the mornings, no longer responsible for a number of employees, a lot of work as a freelancer after the bakery still in the office.
"Somehow I'll miss it at the beginning," ponders the master baker.
But he still has enough old and new tasks.
For example, his hobby is beekeeping.
So far he has been able to relax while working with the bees and making honey.
"And I'll continue to do that." And then there's the new home.
The couple moved out of the company apartment above the bakery into the newly built little house in Münsing.
There is still a lot to do and set up there.
"Sleep in at last": After 36 years, a new chapter in life begins for the master baker
The Stelmaszeks lived in Königsdorf for a total of 36 years, and their three children grew up here.
Konrad came from Wasserburg, his wife Maria - also a trained baker - comes from Rechtmehring.
“In Königsdorf we were welcomed with open arms in the village community.
We are still grateful for that today,” says Konrad Stelmaszek.
Back then, on May 1, 1986, they took over the old Reindl bakery in the center of town.
Then the Königsdorf bakery was built on the northern outskirts.
The installation of the large oven was spectacular: a crane had to lift it into the house.
For more than 36 years, the master baker had to get up in the middle of the night and produce together with his employees in the bakery so that customers can stand in front of full shelves with bread, rolls, pretzels, cakes and other baked goods and confectionery in the morning.
Königsdorfer Backstube: The search for a successor was successful
The search for a successor was successful (we reported).
The Franconian Claus Grammetbauer took over the bakery as an independent branch.
Under the new operations manager Michael Iglhaut, everything for the customers should remain as usual and valued: the employees, the range and also the production directly in-house.
What will the Stelmaszek couple miss the most?
The two agree: “The contact to our many nice regular customers, whom we would like to thank from the bottom of our hearts, as well as our dedicated and hard-working employees.
Particular highlights were the visits from the kindergarten children on the one hand, and the Christmas markets around our house on the other.”
The media also frequently reported on the Königsdorfer Backstube, such as Deutsche Welle or Bavarian television.
A lot fell by the wayside in 36 busy professional years
But even if no more kindergartens come to visit, the Stelmaszeks' social contact will not be broken: "With all the work, a lot has fallen by the wayside.
Now we want to meet friends more often and go out in the evening without a guilty conscience because we have to get up in the morning.” Some things will be different.
But the Stelmaszeks hope that the village community in Münsing will accept them as openly as they did in Königsdorf.
