Thanks to the attention of the neighbors and the quick intervention of the fire brigade, a woman from Pullach survived an apartment fire: she was asleep.
Pullach
- That just went well again.
Or, as Thomas Maranelli, commander of the Pullach volunteer fire brigade, puts it: "On that day, the woman had a guardian angel." One who saved her life on Christmas Eve.
At 10:57 p.m. on Christmas Eve, the fire brigade received the alarm: a fire in an apartment building on Wolfratshauser Strasse.
When the first of the 23 firefighters arrived, a neighbor and the rescue service were already waiting in front of the house - the glow of the flames could be seen through several windows.
As it turned out, the windows and doors were locked, the resident could not be reached, for the shrill whistle of a smoke alarm sounded through the night.
So the fire brigade had to break open the door and then found out why no one reacted in the smoky apartment: the woman from Pullach was fast asleep.
The fire brigade was able to extinguish the fire relatively quickly, an Advent arrangement had gone up in flames.
However, unnoticed by the already sleeping lady.
Worse events could only be prevented by the neighbors who noticed the smoke detector and alerted the fire brigade, as well as the quick intervention of the fire brigade.
"Once again it was shown that smoke detectors save lives," said the fire brigade.
While an ambulance was taking care of the lady and the Hohenschäftlarn volunteer fire brigade who had been called in was using the CO-Hb measuring device to determine the carbon monoxide content in the blood, the apartment was being evacuated by means of positive pressure ventilation and a window was boarded up.
The Munich-Land ABC train, which also arrived, found that the apartment was no longer habitable for the time being.
The woman was taken to a hospital for further treatment.
A cooking pot catches fire in Ottobrunn
A kitchen fire in Ottobrunn, also on Christmas Eve, was less dramatic than in Pullach.
Around 7:45 p.m., oil burned in a pot in a house on Egerweg.
The residents themselves smothered the flames with a fire extinguisher, the alarmed Ottobrunn fire brigade, with 21 emergency services on site, only had to do post-extinguishing work and check the situation.
The kitchen, however, reports the fire brigade operations center, was no longer operational.
