Animal emergency on Christmas Day in Freimann: A 16-year-old dog had to be freed by animal rescue.

She was wedged between the heater and the temperature control.

Her owner eventually had to call 911.

Munich – Unfortunately, accidents are inevitable even at Christmas.

Animal rescue had to arrive on the first holiday of all days: the 16-year-old bitch of a Munich resident had her paw trapped between the radiator and the temperature controller.

The owner first tried to free the critter on her own, but was unsuccessful because the dog was panicking.

"We set off immediately and only advised the lady to calm her animal down as much as possible," said the animal rescue service, which was at the scene in Freimann 15 minutes later.

“The bitch lay exhausted next to the heater and unfortunately bled a little.

She was so frightened that the only way to approach her was to wear a muzzle.”

Munich: bitch stuck in the heater – then the animal rescue had to move in

As soon as it was properly seated, however, sedation was no longer necessary to get to work: with lots of olive oil and careful movements, the veterinarian and her assistant finally managed to slowly pull the paw out of the constriction.

"Then the vet was able to examine them for broken bones, swelling and other injuries - fortunately there were no serious consequences to be found." Since the paw still hurt, of course, the dog was given painkillers and the owner was recommended to cool the injury and to protect the animal for the next few days.

So after the big shock, a happy ending on Christmas Day.
