Once again this year the wave mountain was unlocked.

Interested parties could purchase the inventory of the now-closed swimming pool.

Oberammergau – Everything used to be different.

As the visitors walked with big bags in the wave mountain.

Packed with towels, bikinis and everything else you need to play water rat.

On Friday evening, however, the guests marched into the Oberammergau swimming pool with empty hands - and left with full ones.

Tables, chairs, vases – they dragged various items of furniture outside to their vehicles.

Some with a piece of melancholy in their chests, others with feelings of happiness about their successful bargain hunt.

Bargain hunt in the swimming pool: Sale flushes money into the municipal coffers

The municipality of Oberammergau organized the campaign.

For two hours, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., she unlocked the gates of the swimming pool for the last sale.

The inventory is no longer needed, money in the municipal coffers for it is.

Ultimately, you would have had to dispose of remaining items, some of which were subject to a fee.

Those who are interested can take tables, vases, plants and much more home with them.

The Facebook page of the Wellenberg has not been maintained since the beginning of the year, the last post on the homepage is dedicated to the closure on October 1, 2022. After years of fighting for the loss-making paddling temple, local politics finally decided to close it.

The pressure from staff shortages and price increases as a result of the energy crisis had become too great.

The municipalities are now aiming for outdoor swimming in summer.

However, a corresponding concept for this is not yet available.

Bargain hunters are not long in coming: loungers are in great demand

It is certain that there is a layer in the shaft in the interior.

At 5 p.m. sharp, the door to the Wellenberg opened.

If you had cash in your wallet, you could buy almost anything.

The bargain hunters were not long in coming, and the around 120 prospective buyers even came from the surrounding villages.

For some, however, it was not about dusting off decorations and the like for little money.

They wanted to take home a piece of memory from the golden days of their childhood.

The visitors could save one way or the other.

"We reduced the prices by more than half of the purchase price and then discounted them again," says Christian Ostler, the town hall manager.

In this way, the community wanted to rule out trading like at the bazaar.

Nevertheless, some people tried their luck.

Particularly popular: the loungers.

Test it once and checkout.

Coveted inventory - if the car offers space

The modern lamps were sold out just as quickly, chairs and tables were available from as little as five euros.

There were even two trampolines for sale, as well as various shelves and plants.

The only challenge for many was how to transport the purchased furniture home - if the car did not offer enough space.

In the end, however, everyone managed to ship their new property.

Many of those present reminisced about the good times in the popular pool.

They saw it in a state they did not know.

The rooms – cleared out.

The technique of the lifeguards - dismantled.

Holes adorned the ceiling.

They had been sawn in to control the wiring.

Frosty cold prevailed.

It was more than a purchase for the visitors - they said goodbye to the wave crest in its usual form.
