More than 50 people were poisoned, many schools, public institutions and a major international road were closed after an ammonia leak in eastern Serbia.
And the Associated Press quoted the Serbian authorities as saying: “A state of emergency was declared in the eastern city of Bayreuth, near the border with Bulgaria, after a freight train carrying ammonia derailed and toxic gases were released into the atmosphere.”
She added: More than fifty people were poisoned, while more than 15 people were transferred to another city for treatment, calling on residents to stay home.
The area has been closed and traffic on the highway leading to Bulgaria has been redirected to local roads, while investigations have begun to find out the causes of the accident.
