The station of the district town of Ebersberg is an eyesore.
Anyone who arrives here would like to continue straight away.
Will that change?
There is hope.
Ebersberg
– The only one currently holding up the flag at Ebersberg station is the kebab shop.
Otherwise, the public transport hub of the district town - where the Filzenexpress and S-Bahn also stop - is dead.
The infrastructure consists of two ticket machines and two cigarette machines plus a payphone, which won't last much longer.
The ambiance: gloomy and not worthy of its location.
Whoever arrives here sees that he is progressing.
Bahn says: "Conversations are ongoing"
Now there is hope that the situation could improve.
On request, Deutsche Bahn reports: "Talks are currently being held with prospective tenants for the sales area." The ideas were moving in the direction of a "convenience store", i.e. a kind of mini market, or a kiosk or bakery.
"There are no details yet, but we ask for your patience," writes a spokeswoman.
But just the hint of a movement triggers euphoria in the town hall.
"That would be great!" Says Mayor Ulrich Proske when he hears about the negotiating situation.
In the meantime, the railway had also tried to sell the building, but apparently found no interested parties.
In any case, the building, which was in need of renovation, was simply too expensive for the city.
Now the railway announces: "The station building in Ebersberg is not intended for sale."
"ServiceStore" has been closed for years
Despite the clean coat of paint on the facade, its condition is currently rather pathetic, especially as far as the kiosk is concerned.
Behind a filthy glass sliding door, the inscription of which promises coffee, sacks and magazines, the pipes hang out of the wall above the bare, dusty tiled floor.
The “ServiceStore” urgently needed a service itself.
It's been closed here for years.
As early as 2011, more than a decade ago, the Ebersberger Zeitung had a simple headline: “The eyesore” – quote from the then CSU mayor Walter Brilmayer.
In 2006, he entered the local election campaign with the promise of a new service and business center.
The improvement to back then: There is now the kebab stand - "Thank God!" says Brilmayer's non-party successor Proske.
Mayor.
“We urgently need a toilet”
In the meantime, the wishes in the town hall have become more modest.
"We urgently need a toilet at the train station," says the mayor.
And in the basement, as he already knows from his time as water manager, there would be one – as soon as someone was found to take over the shop and toilet.
For the city, the maintenance of the little house in the train station is not affordable - and it does not even belong to it.

"The way it is now, it's old-fashioned," says Mayor Proske, keeping his fingers crossed for Deutsche Bahn when it comes to finding tenants.
"I'll definitely come to the inauguration party!"

Incidentally, the railway is still used for the rooms on the upper floor.
"In the building there are still rest and social rooms for railway workers," writes the spokeswoman.
This limits the possibilities for revitalization, so anyone who dreams of a station pub or event rooms has bad cards.
The railway writes: "The rooms will continue to be used with an active rental contract by DB Regio and cannot be used for any other purpose at the moment."
