Railway company launches “immediate program”: It will take a while before all the benches are back.

District – It wasn't enough as a gift for the train passengers at the festival, at least not everywhere, but the benches on the platforms in the Oberland – they're coming back.

As reported, the old specimens were dismantled this spring.

Since then, passengers have had to sit on the narrow, uncomfortable foundations or stand on the trains, which caused problems for seniors in particular when there were delays.

Bahn announces “many small improvements”

As a reminder: In July, the railway company informed our newspaper: “The corresponding plans for a replacement have been initiated.” After nothing had happened for months, the railway company then sent out a press release at the beginning of December that gave hope: “The immediate program will still be effective in 2022 – many small ones Improvements and More Accessibility,” it was captioned.

The railways and the Federal Ministry of Transport would put 2.7 million euros in Bavarian train stations, it said.

As a DB boss, you can already cheer: "With this Christmas spurt for attractive stations, we will quickly and effectively strengthen accessibility and comfort at many stations this year," says Bernd Koch, CEO of the responsible DB Station & Service AG. quoted.

Train stations between Darching and Bayrischzell get “new seating”

On request, the railway press office now explains that the benches that have been removed at the stations between Darching and Bayrischzell will actually be replaced.

Although there is talk of "new seating", one must understand this to mean that the benches themselves are new.

There are no new ones in the sense of additional seating.

And if you look very closely, the press release doesn't say anywhere that the benches will be set up this year.

Of course, there is talk of "investing" by the end of the year and of "funds flowing".

But it can sometimes take a while from payment to implementation.

Besides, it's still a few days until the end of the year.

"Will still work in 2020" vs. "Installation is being prepared"

Holzkirchen is also being considered when it comes to investments, it goes on to say: "New train stop sensors were purchased for the station." The devices register passing trains and thus enable more up-to-date passenger information.

When does this happen?

"The installation of the sensors is currently being prepared."
