The Shin Bet announced today (Monday) that it thwarted an attack inside Israel that was planned by terrorist operatives from the Gaza Strip. The attack was supposed to be carried out using a bomb, which was hidden inside a fire extinguisher and was ready to be activated.

According to the Shin Bet's announcement, the attack was foiled on the 14th of the month , at the end of an operation that lasted several weeks led by the service and in cooperation with the IDF and revealed a terrorist infrastructure that promoted explosive and suicide attacks within the country's territories. More recruits were exposed in Judea and Samaria as well as terrorist operatives in Gaza who planned attacks.

"The activity that was carried out and the thwarting of the planned attacks are part of the long-running campaign that the General Security Service is carrying out together with the IDF and the Israel Police to thwart terrorism in the territories of Israel using a variety of methods and tools," the Shin Bet said in a statement.

"The State of Israel takes very seriously the terrorist activity directed from the Gaza Strip to Judea and Samaria and Israel and works to thwart any threat ahead of time, and considers the Hamas organization to be responsible for all terrorist activity from the Gaza Strip."
