This measure “

will encourage users to prefer public transport to the car

”, hopes Renaud Muselier.

It will also complete the traffic ban imposed by the Aix-Marseille-Provence metropolis on Crit'Air 5 and unclassified vehicles, which no longer have access, since last September, to the city and its surroundings.

In 2018, the metropolis also introduced a bonus for the purchase of an electric vehicle.

The Department has [thus] become in 2020 the first in France in number of registrations of electric cars.

By 2035, the entire rolling stock of the Régie des transports métropolitains will be electric

,” assures Martine Vassal, president of the Aix-Marseille-Provence metropolis.
