In the shadow of the storms surrounding the changes demanded by the factions of the designated coalition, Kochavi turned to the designated Prime Minister and expressed his concerns.

Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi addressed Prime Minister-designate Netanyahu today (Monday) and expressed his concerns about the expected moves in the military and security sector following the coalition agreements.

Among them: the handover of the civil administration to Smotrich (who will serve as an additional minister in the Ministry of Defense) and the revocation of the Chief of Staff's authority to appoint the chief military rabbi.

Kochavi expressed deep concern about the escalation in the IDF and harm to its people, such as the words of the head of the Samaria Council, Yossi Dagan, that the IDF spokesman, Brigadier General Ran Kochav, has turned the unit into an extreme left-wing party. Kochavi wanted to express his professional position before any decision is made or legislation concerning the IDF and its various units and said that "our professional position will be heard before any decision is made".

Also, Kochavi asked to receive full backing of the IDF at every step.

Netanyahu's office said in response: "We do not refer to the conversations between the Prime Minister-designate and senior members of the security system."
