The Movement for the Quality of Government petitioned against the expected appointment of the chairman of the Shas, but the Supreme Court claimed that it was submitted before its time • The judge did not agree to temporarily prevent Darei from serving as minister, as long as the appointment has not yet been implemented

The judge in the petition against Deri: the petition was premature and does not consider it appropriate to grant temporary relief.

Meaning: Deri will be appointed minister on Thursday.

Supreme Court Judge Alex Stein responded to the petition of the movement for the quality of government that sought to determine that Deri could not serve as minister.

The judge ruled that the respondents to the petition - Netanyahu, Deri, the Knesset, the ombudsman and the state attorney - will respond to the petition by next Wednesday. According to the judge, the petition is ahead of its time and he does not consider it appropriate to grant interim relief.

As a reminder, the Movement for the Quality of Government petitioned the High Court on Sunday against the expected appointment of Shas Chairman Aryeh Deri as a minister in the government.

The petitioners asked the High Court to issue a declaratory order stating that due to Deri's criminal conviction at the beginning of the year, he will not be able to serve as minister without the chairman of the central election committee deciding that there is no dishonor in his actions.
