During the anti-extradition demonstrations, Tseung Kwan O Station was one of the MTR stations that was severely damaged. For example, on October 4, 2019, the government enacted a law banning masks. Afterwards, demonstrations took place in many districts in Hong Kong, including Tseung Kwan O District. Since then, the original glass exterior wall has been sealed by giant iron plates, and the previously transparent lobby has been "out of sight". A court "injunction order" has been posted in the station, prohibiting anyone from illegally destroying and obstructing the operation of the MTR.
