The savannah on foot and without protection

Julie de Bona was the first to agree to embark on the adventure.

The actress flew to Tanzania and traveled the Serengeti savannah, on foot and unprotected, with naturalist Perrine Crosmary (who lived in the bush for a long time) and journalist Diego Buñuel.

From the first day of filming, the emotions were there.

As they approached a peaceful herd of zebras, they suddenly fled, giving way to two huge lions!

Julie de Bona panicked when her companions tried to reassure her by telling her not to make any sudden movements.

This baptism of fire will be followed by other meetings and silent exchanges with the animals of the savannah.

We wanted to live a daily life in the wild, to be an animal among animals.

Over the course of the stay, the actress was able to let go to connect to the wild world by trusting herself.

She thus lived suspended moments in front of the oldest elephant in the region or, in tears, in front of the beauty of a group of giraffes.

During their expedition, Julie, Diego and Perrine deliberately approached the animals, despite the lack of protection from a ranger.

“Proximity was essential to the experience

, explains Diego Buñuel.

We wanted to live a daily life in the wild, to be an animal among animals.

For this, careful preparation was necessary.

"With Perrine, we spent a week upstream to see what it was possible to do, the best places to go

," he continues.

We have seen what the right distance to keep and the appropriate behavior to adopt depending on the situation.

This allowed us to be freed when Julie joined us”

.

Through this immersion, carried by sublime images, France 2 hopes to make viewers aware of the preservation of wild environments.

"Julie de Bona has lived an emotional journey and our bet is to reach people other than through arguments or demonstrations"

, confides Nicolas Daniel, the director of magazines at France Télévisions.

“It was a real gift, my most beautiful trip...

This experience closer to nature, almost mystical, upset the actress:

“It was a real gift, my most beautiful trip, but it goes far beyond, it is an encounter, a connection.

I am an anxious person who has always been in search of meaning and, in Tanzania, my questions were silenced.

It was bigger than anything, it overwhelmed me.

Wild animals are essential to our balance, they bring us back to something essential: understanding the meaning of our existence.

I felt a sense of confidence in life

,” she concludes.
