Two impressive Christmas concerts were on the program at the Gymnasium Dorfen.

From donations and the proceeds from crêpe, waffle and punch sales, 1000 euros will go to "Licht in die Herzen".

Dorfen - In the end, the musicians and their teachers were just happy, the audience was overwhelmed and director Markus Höß was "proud to be the director of this school of talent".

In the two Christmas concerts, the choir, orchestra, big band and soloists at the Dorfen grammar school offered a program of a high musical standard.

1000 euros from the income from the two concerts in the auditorium through donations from the guests and the crêpe, waffle and punch sales go to "Licht in die Herzen", the readers' aid organization of the Erdinger/Dorfener Anzeiger.

Especially in times like these, it is necessary to support people who are not doing so well, emphasized Höß and said in an interview with our newspaper: "It is important to us that we do good locally and people who are in need , help with our donation.” That went well with his welcome speech, in which Höß recalled the Christmas message from the 30th US President Calvin Coolidge: “Christmas is not a time or a season, it is an emotional state.

To keep peace and goodwill in one's heart, to be lavish with mercy, that is, to carry within oneself the true spirit of Christmas.”

To the delight of all the students involved, the director finally fulfilled the wish of a fifth grader, which she had Santa Claus, who was still scurrying through the auditorium, deliver: "The first lesson is free." At least for the next day, this was approved.

Some benefited from this, because 180 musicians alone stood on the stage on the two evenings, plus the students from the SMV, who had organized the Christmas market and were responsible for the technology and the conversion of the stage.

The music student council has been doing extraordinary things for decades, and they were able to prove this again on the two concert evenings.

At the Christmas concert under the direction of Irmgard Bauer, Tanja Kroker, Laura Scharl and Wolfram Heinzmann, classic Christmas carols such as "Oh du Fröhliche" were on the program as well as "Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town".

At the latest when the film music for “Three Nuts for Cinderella” was played, which the orchestra performed brilliantly with Julian Münchhausen on the piano, the around 450 guests melted away: the Christmas spirit had finally arrived.

On both evenings, the auditorium was completely filled with guests, some students watched the concerts from the gallery due to lack of space.

The orchestra with the solo violinists Antonia Estay-Heydner and Emil Schäfer made the atmospheric start with a piece by Antonio Vivaldi.

The orchestra shone with flute player Leonie Anders in a piece by Carl Stamitz.

This was followed by the lower school choir with the flutists Kerstin Müller and Laura Scharl, a piano solo by Annabella Kamolz, vocals by Yara Wolf and Sarah Schneider, which caused goose bumps, the preliminary orchestra, a flute ensemble, the main choir, accompanied by Laura Herweger on the flute, until finally all the singers were on stage together.

After the break we continued with the symphonic orchestra, in which trainee singer Laura Scharl substituted for the ailing Finja Stahl as a singer, with a Bavarian wind group, the men's choir, Niklas Weiskopf on the marimba, supported by Julius Schatz on the percussions.

After a vocal ensemble, the big band, which did not have enough space on stage, provided a celebratory conclusion with alto saxophonist Katja Bietzker and trumpeter Thomas Lanzinger.

During the encore, a jazzy version of Stille Nacht, the former student Florian Hanslmaier stepped in for the sick solo trumpeter on the second evening.

"He didn't have time to practice," said his father, the head of the Taufkirchen Realschule, Josef Hanslmaier, to our newspaper.

The audience loved it.
