In the district of Ludwigslust-Parchim, two men fell into the frozen Holzendorfer See at Christmas.
One of the two men died as a result of the accident.
Sternberg – In the district of Ludwigslust-Parchim in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, an accident occurred on a lake during the Christmas holidays.
Two men entered the Holzendorfer See near Dabel to take photos and broke in.
One of the men died.
Accident on the ice: two men break into the sea - one is in mortal danger
As the Rostock police headquarters announced in a report, the accident happened on December 25th.
Accordingly, two men aged 33 and 35 entered the ice surface of Lake Holzendorf and broke.
The men came from Lithuania and Latvia.
As reported by the German Press Agency, the two men tried to take photos of the frozen lake.
According to police information, the men broke in because the ice surface was no longer load-bearing due to the mild temperatures.
A witness informed the police.
Emergency services were able to save both men with severe hypothermia.
The 35-year-old Latvian citizen was under water for up to 10 minutes.
He was in mortal danger and had to be resuscitated by rescue workers.
His 33-year-old companion also suffered serious injuries.
Both men were taken to area hospitals.
Christmas drama: 35-year-old dies after an accident on the lake
As the police announced on Monday (December 26), the 35-year-old died in the hospital in Schwerin.
The police launched a death investigation.
His younger companion, however, was released from the hospital.
On Christmas Eve, there was also a traffic accident in Kochel am See, Upper Bavaria: two expensive cars crashed into each other, three people, including children, were injured.
