Tian Beichen, member of the Legislative Council of the Real Politics Roundtable, accepted the inquiry of "Hong Kong 01", citing news that the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong high-speed rail is preparing to resume operation before January 15 next year, and the authorities also intend to open the high-speed rail stations to short and mid-distance provinces and cities.
Tian Beichen revealed that "there must be a quota" for Hong Kong people to go north in the early stage of customs clearance. He suggested to the government to set up a daily quota of 100,000 people going north, but the government thought the proposal was "too aggressive" and pointed out that the load capacity of the medical systems in the two places should be considered.
In addition, Tian Beichen revealed that the government is studying the abolition of nucleic acid testing at the airport. He believes that there is a high chance of success, because it is in line with the measures implemented by the Mainland on January 8, and foreign tourists are expected to resume coming to Hong Kong by then.

Tian Beichen said that MTR has made preparations for the opening of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong high-speed rail. The route is not limited to Guangzhou and Shenzhen, but also includes Beijing, Shanghai and other major cities.
He quoted sources saying that the authorities are actively discussing with the mainland railways to open short and mid-distance routes to Wuhan and Changsha. However, since the customs clearance date is close to the peak season of the Spring Festival travel in the mainland, it depends on whether the mainland railways can "make room".
He also quoted news that after customs clearance, the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong High Speed Rail will add trains from West Kowloon Station to Guangzhou East Station, replacing the Hung Hom through train.
