Thwarting of terrorist attacks, arrests of terrorist operatives and activity against the Shebaim and arms dealers - the Border Guard summarizes a challenging security year.
During 2022, MGB fighters eliminated 49 armed terrorists who tried to harm them, and captured more than 13,000 Sheba'im.
In addition, about 2,500 Israelis were arrested who drove, employed and entertained Shebaim, and about 450 were arrested on suspicion of attacking police officers - most of them Israeli Arabs.

In April 2023, the MGB will celebrate 70 years of activity from the day the force was founded. For its commanders, headed by Chief Amir Cohen, the past year has been quite busy. Just this month, the soldiers of the National Guard's Internal Security Division neutralized a terrorist who ambushed them in an attack in Kfar Qasim.

13,648 Shebaim and helpers were arrested this year. 4,502 of them were caught in the Jerusalem area, 964 in the north, 816 in the center, 1,145 in the south, 394 in the coastal district, 3,297 in the Jerusalem district, 2,442 in Judea and Samaria and 88 were arrested by the tactical brigade.
6,579 suspects of committing various crimes were arrested, 902 of them suspected of committing security crimes.
In addition, 2,110 incidents where Palestinians threw stones at fighters and civilians were handled.
686 of the cases occurred in the area surrounding Jerusalem, and more than 1,000 of them in the West Bank. On the other hand, only 226 Palestinians were arrested for throwing stones.
Following this, in a counter-terrorism operation, MGB soldiers uncovered 1,235 weapons, of which 368 rifles, 520 pistols, 65 explosives and 282 grenades. 449 suspects were arrested for attacking police officers, and 643 were arrested for involvement in terrorist activity.
Less agricultural theft
In the sector of combating agricultural crime, there was a 24% decrease in agricultural crimes.
The rural area has been strengthened with new units, headed by the Rural Assault Unit, numbering about 60 men and women fighters - most of them permanent personnel and graduates of regular service in the MGB or the IDF.
The mission of the unit is to fight agricultural crime.
A total of 567 incidents of agricultural crime were registered in the MGB this year, compared to 744 last year. The Corps' data shows that 181 suspects were arrested this year for involvement in agricultural crime, 153 indictments were filed and 40 were arrested until the end of the proceedings.
There was a 38% decrease in the theft of agricultural produce, and a 17% decrease in the theft of livestock (cattle, sheep and poultry).
A total of 1,020 animals were stolen during the year, compared to 1,628 last year.
