Always ready: the Bergwacht Wolfratshausen.

The volunteers from the Wolfratshauser Bergwacht are always there when they are needed.
This year, for example, when the heads of state visit Elmau.
Wolfratshausen – Bored?
A foreign word for the members of the Bergwacht Wolfratshausen.
Hardly had the first snowflakes fallen at the beginning of the year and skiing was allowed to start in the mountains than the mountain rescuers at Brauneck were asked for help.
"Compared to previous years, we had an exceptionally large number of assignments there - there were over 40 - and were able to help many guests," says Andreas Westermeier, head of the on-call duty.
In the summer, they rescued a few paragliders and supported the police and rescue services in Wolfratshausen on several searches for missing persons.

"In May we showed our beautiful Pupplinger Au to interested mountain rescuers from the Hochland region," reports Westermeier.
June, in turn, led the mountain rescuers into big politics: several emergency services helped to secure the G7 summit in Elmau.
Medical services were also on the agenda.

The Wolfratshauser put a lot of time into the preparation of the mountain rescue service comparison competition.
At the beginning of September, the teams from the entire district of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen came together to find the best mountain rescue service in various tasks with skill, strength and fun.
Volunteers: Bergwacht welcomes new members
But before any practice, the theory comes into play.
In addition to weekly training, the candidates were prepared for the various exams.
Two were able to complete basic training.
"And we were also able to welcome two new candidates to our ranks," says Westermeier happily.
Other interested parties are always welcome.
The Bavarian Mountain Rescue Service can only equip its standby teams with a certain basic equipment.
Equipment for individual needs must be funded through donations.
Next on the list are a defibrillator for the service hut in the Pupplinger Au, headlamps for use in the dark and snowshoes to get to the patient quickly and safely.
Anyone who would like to support this voluntary work with a donation can find all the necessary information at www.bergwacht-wolfratshausen.de/foerderer-were.
