Mayer rebelled against the Nazi agitation
Marco Baur, Chairman of the Marienstift Foundation, went into the extraordinary life of Rupert Mayer.
"Father Rupert Mayer rebelled against the incitement of National Socialism," he explained.
"He was imprisoned and in a concentration camp for that." In addition, Baur reported, Mayer was the pastor of the immigrants in Munich from 1912 and looked after them, since their hopes were not always fulfilled.
"There is a parallel here with the Marienstift Foundation, which cares for the elderly, the sick and the infirm," says the foundation's board of directors.
"The house bears the name of Rupert Mayer, and so we have an obligation to think and act in his spirit," said Baur.
“Proud to be able to bear his name”
Larisa Leitner, the facility manager, was also delighted with the work of art.
"It's an honor for us, we are grateful from the bottom of our hearts," said Leitner.
"We are proud to be able to bear the name of Father Rupert Mayer."
The Father is often referred to as Munich's 15th Holy Helper
Pastoral Advisor Josef Weiher blessed the bust and explained that Mayer is often referred to as Munich's 15th Holy Helper because he has done so much good.
"In moments when you don't know what to do anymore, you can come to the bust and linger in a moment of silence," says Weiher.
At the end, the “Pater Rupert Mayer prayer” was said together.
