RGC Chairman Huang Yushan: I expect the Chief Executive's Policy Group to help the government better grasp the pulse of society

Professor Huang Yushan, Chairman of Hong Kong People's Congress and Research Grants Council, believes that Huang Yuanshan is the right person to head the chief executive's policy group. He hopes that the chief executive's policy group will help the government grasp the pulse of society and understand the people's sentiments, so as to formulate corresponding policies.

The government announced today (27th) that the Chief Executive's Policy Group will be formally established tomorrow (28th). Chief Executive Lee Ka-chao has appointed Dr. Wong Yuen-shan, a member of the Legislative Council Election Committee, as the head of the Chief Executive's Policy Group.

Li Jiachao hopes that the chief executive's policy team can advocate and assist in the formulation of long-term and strategic policies from a far-sighted perspective; closely follow the development of the country, analyze and recommend the docking points that integrate into the overall situation of the country; examine international relations and situations, analyze opportunities and risks; grasp Hong Kong people's sentiments , to assist in decision-making direction and formulation of measures.

Professor Huang Yushan told "Hong Kong 01" that he had served as a consultant for several research projects involving land or education of the Solidarity Hong Kong Foundation. With working experience in financial institutions, research on education and land, and a wide range of knowledge, he believes that Huang Yuanshan is a suitable candidate to head the chief executive's policy team.

As for the other members of the chief executive's policy team, what are the requirements?

Professor Huang Yushan pointed out that it depends on the chief executive's expectations of the policy team, but he personally believes that people with different backgrounds or professions and a deep understanding of various aspects of society can strengthen the strength of the policy team.

He hopes that the chief executive's policy team can help the government to have a better grasp of the pulse of society.

As for Huang Yuen-shan, five members of the Legislative Council have resigned because they joined the government. Does this mean that the government is "grabbing talents" from the Legislative Council? And two by-elections will be held successively. Will it affect public perception?
