Review of SONY INZONE headphones (gaming channel)

Over the past five years or so, an amazing thing has happened that we didn't think would happen.

Sony and began marketing itself to a whole new audience that was always looking: PC gamers.

And this is not only expressed in its exclusive games that finally reach platforms such as Steam or Epic.

It also includes a line of gaming accessories specifically designed for PC gamers.

In the last month, we had the chance to experiment with the three models of Sony's new Inzone headphones, and we checked whether Sony manages to give a fight to giants such as Logitech, Razer, Steel Series and many others that claim the crown.

Let's start with the design and comfort

The round design of the headphones reminds of a somewhat "alien" look that matches itself with the PlayStation 5, and whether this is the choice for you is already a matter of taste.

I personally really liked seeing them integrate and merge with the Sony when they are placed on the console in the living room, much more than the simple Sennheiser model that is designed to connect to the console remotes.

As soon as you put the headphones on your head, you will notice that these are really comfortable headphones.

But really.

The padding of the ear cushions in the H3 model is quite simple nylon, and in the H7 it feels a little better quality.

The sharp-eyed will be able to notice that the upholstery on the H9 model is very reminiscent of the leather upholstery from Sony's WH-1000XM5 series.

They are considered superior headphones in many parameters, and you can see that Sony took a lot of inspiration from them when working on the INZONE.

The main model with which I listen to music is the AKG K361 (which are considered studio headphones), and for the sake of comparison, the INZONEs feel much lighter on the head and create less pressure or pain even with prolonged use.

My main gaming headphones are the Logitech G432, and they too can start to get annoying after a long 2 hour session.

And the part for which we gathered: sound

The sound of the INZONE series is not revolutionary, but it is certainly satisfying.

Depends on what you are looking for in your experience of course.

The sound of the H3 for example is considered a bit hollow and almost without bass.

If we compare them to 3D Pulse, I think they are the better choice.

They provide a slightly cleaner and clearer sound.

In the H7 things start to change, and the sound becomes deeper and with bass, as I personally like very much.

They do the job very well in explosive action games and definitely manage to put in the atmosphere.

Maybe less adapted to music.

This model comes with support in a separate app where you can adjust the sound personally, but I found the default to do the trick.

And regarding the H9 model: in terms of sound there is no significant leap between it and the H7, and the main difference is in the noise filtering technology which does the job in a really impressive way.

Just look at the test we performed in the video review attached above.

The microphone of the three models is not one of the amazing ones I have come across.

During conversations with friends I heard them perfectly, but from the other side I received complaints that I sounded a little robotic.

Also in the recording test I found that the sound of the microphone is much more mechanical compared to the G432 that I usually use.

Features, battery life, and prices

The accompanying application of the INZONE series is also available for mobile, and with it you can take a photo of your ear structure and create a personalized profile for you.

The attached Spatial Sound feature is actually what should make the difference, and turn the sound into a full three-dimensional one, which fits best especially in action games.

The headphones synchronize perfectly with Sony's home console, and as soon as you connect it to the PlayStation you will also see a meter on the screen that shows your exact sound volume.

The battery life of the two wireless models is particularly impressive and you won't need to charge them often: the H7 will last you 40 hours, and the H9 will last you 32 hours, or 20 hours if you turn on the noise filtering.

And regarding the prices: the H3 model costs about NIS 399, the H7 costs about NIS 899, and the H9 costs about NIS 1,190.

The main difference between the H7 and the 9 is mainly in noise filtering which is very impressive, but I don't think it counts as a mast for the average gamer.

So for your consideration.

In conclusion

Sony's INZONE series may not be perfect, but they certainly manage to compete with other competitors in the gaming accessories market.

Sony is no stranger to the field of sound, and it managed to take the good things from its professional headphones and adapt them to the world of gaming.

But the question is, are they worth the price?

It's your decision.

If you are PC players only, you will probably find options that will be more fascinating for you.

Both in terms of sound and price.

But if you're a PC player who also has a console, this is a great option that covers both platforms.
