Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kolba announced yesterday (Monday) that his country aims to hold peace talks with Russia by the end of February, around the anniversary of the outbreak of the war - according to reports from the AP news agency.

This announcement comes a day after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he is ready to negotiate.

The Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, said in response that he had given the Ukrainians conditions and demands, which they must fulfill if they wish to accept Russia's offer and end the war.

According to the terms, Ukraine must surrender and give up the territories controlled by Russia at this time.

And if they don't do it - "the army will decide the issue", he said.

Putin said last Sunday that Russia is ready to negotiate with all parties involved in the conflict in Ukraine.

However, he added and shifted the blame to the Ukrainian side.

"I believe we are acting in the right direction, we are protecting our national interests, the interests of our citizens, our people," President Putin said in an interview with state television in the country, "we have no choice but to protect our citizens."

"We are ready to negotiate with all those involved on acceptable solutions, but it depends on them," the Russian president added, shifting the blame to Ukraine, "we are not the ones who refuse to negotiate, but they."

Putin's statement came after earlier in the day, Russia intercepted a Ukrainian drone near one of the air force bases on its territory, where bombers are based. According to the report, three crew members were killed in the incident.

The drone apparently flew near Engels Air Force Base, which is home to strategic bombers whose goal is to bomb cities and infrastructure in Ukraine. No Russian planes were damaged in the incident, the Russian Defense Ministry said. However, according to Russian and Ukrainian social media accounts, several planes were destroyed in the drone attack. .

Ukraine did not comment on the matter.

A spokesman for Ukraine's defense and security forces warned of a Russian response to the attack, referring to a similar attack earlier this month in the same region: "It reminds us of the events of December 5. The Russians then launched a massive missile attack in response," he said.

"Therefore, we must be prepared for this, take it into account in our plans and not forget to run to the shelters."
