According to a study published in Japan, the gene that causes humans to eat high-fat foods in large quantities has been discovered.

Has it also happened to you in the past that you started eating some kind of snack, ate piece by piece piece by piece, and felt like you couldn't stop?

Well, a new study reveals the reason for this - your parents.

• Not what you thought: this is why you simply must not throw away the banana peels

• With cream, hot chili and even with cheese: how do you drink chocolate around the world?

• Addicted to coffee?

Check: it may be a health hazard for you

"The New York Post" published a study by Osaka University in Japan, according to which a gene was discovered that has a strong adaptation to prevent obesity, meaning that the same gene can help you stop overeating, especially before consuming junk food.

The gene, called CRTC1 for short, along with a neuron called MC4R, were studied on mice in order to examine how they affect the animals' eating habits.

When the gene was removed from the group of mice, the result was a significant increase in eating fattening foods.

During the study, the CRTC1 gene was "blocked" from the gene pool of the mice tested in one group - compared to the other group, in which the mice received a standard diet.

When the mice in the first group were fed a high-fat diet, they developed diabetes and gained much more weight than the mice in the second group, whose gene was not blocked.

According to the head of the research group, the role of the CRTC1 gene in the brain has been revealed, as well as its part in the mechanism that prevents humans from eating foods high in calories, fat and sugar.

"We hope that the results of the study will lead to an understanding of what causes people to overeat," said Professor Shigeno Matsumura.
