King Abdullah II of Jordan warned this evening (Wednesday) against a change in Israel's policy in Jerusalem ahead of the inauguration of the new Netanyahu government.
In an interview with CNN, he said that harming Jordan's position as the guardian of the holy places in the city is a "red line" for him.
"If there are people who want to start a confrontation with us, we are ready," Abdullah said.
King Abdullah II of Jordan warned this evening (Wednesday) against a change in Israel's policy in Jerusalem ahead of the inauguration of the new Netanyahu government.
In an exclusive interview this month with CNN, King Abdullah II said that there is "concern" in his country about Israeli officials who are trying to implement changes in the custody of the Christian and Muslim holy sites in East Jerusalem, and warned that he has "red lines".
"If people want to start a conflict with us, we are ready," said the king.
"I prefer to believe that it is better to look at the glass half full, but we certainly have red lines...if people want to push them, then we will deal with them."

According to him, "We should be worried about the next intifada. If it happens, it will be a complete collapse of the rule of law and order, which neither the Israelis nor the Palestinians will benefit from. I think there is great concern among us in the region, including those in Israel who are on our side on this issue, to ensure that not going to happen".
The integration of Israel in the region is "extremely important", added the King of Jordan, "but it will not happen unless the Palestinians have a future", he noted.
In the interview, the King said that the churches in Jerusalem face challenges that make the Christian community feel pressure.
"This is not a national policy, but there are those in governments who hold extremely extreme views towards Muslims and Christians, just as there are those on the other side, and we must unite against this. The Christians in the Middle East are part of our past, they are part of the present, and they must be part of the future." .
