(CNN) ––
The Police "complied with the arrest warrant against Luis Fernando Camacho", governor of Santa Cruz, announced this Wednesday the Minister of Government of Bolivia, Carlos Eduardo Del Castillo, on his Twitter account.
Camacho's lawyer, Juan Carlos Camacho, told CNN that his client "is missing."
And he added that the detention was "completely abusive, they have pointed guns at him and they have beaten him."
Camacho added that they were not aware of any arrest warrant against his defendant, nor that they are aware of any document.
The Santa Cruz government issued a statement denouncing that the governor "has been kidnapped in a completely irregular police operation and taken to an unknown destination."
The Bolivian Ministry of Government confirmed Camacho's arrest to CNN and said that more statements will be made in the next few hours.
The ministry did not respond to the request to know the cause for which the official was detained.
