Just in time for Christmas, the Schongau Citizens' Foundation once again supported volunteers and projects with a sum of money.

Many children are being supported again this year - whether they are learning to speak in a special therapy or dancing in the carnival guards.

Schongau – Mayor Falk Sluyterman recently invited to a separate meeting to personally present this year's awards from the Schongau Civic Foundation.

With donations from citizens and the income from the foundation's assets, social, cultural or sporting institutions or charitable purposes are supported every year.

A special therapy is offered at the Schönach School that encourages children to speak

Apparently, the next generation was a special focus this year: 2000 euros will go to the Barbos Foundation, which takes care of the creative development of children and young people.

The clay field therapy developed by the founder Barbara Osterwald is used in the Schönach School in Altenstadt.

"The therapy is very expensive," Sluyterman described it and gave the floor to headmistress Michaela Steber and her deputy Cornelia Eicher.

“The progress that is being made is fantastic.

We have a mutistic girl who, thanks to this therapy, has now started to speak again”, they thanked.

With the children's song "Suse, dear Suse, what's rustling in the straw?

These are the dear little goslings, they don't have a 'shoe'” the head of the town hall passed on to the next beneficiaries, also children and young people.

Because 15 pairs of new shoes for the young dancers in the youth guard of the Schongauer Faschingsgesellschaft (SFG) are purchased for 1050 euros.

Anne Löw accepted the check.

"Shoes have become too small again, but unfortunately the Guards are not financed by the dance performances because the other expenses are too high," she reported.

The shoes remain in the SFG fund.

Trachtenverein had big expenses at the price platters

The foundation supports the traditional costume association "Schloßbergler" Schongau with 3000 euros.

For two days, a price platter was organized in the Jakob Pfeiffer building - which, according to Sluyterman, involved considerable financial expenditure.

Trachtler board member Markus Wölfle thanked him for the cheque.

300 individual children and 250 adults from a total of 19 clubs competed.

And the effort was doubly worthwhile for Schongau, because the active adults in the “Schloßberglern” took first place – most recently, in 1958, the best Plattler group was presented.

The Fuchstalbahn working group in the Pfaffenwinkel environmental initiative will receive a contribution of 500 euros - for a lot of advertising work of all kinds. The mayor thanked them for their "great commitment, which has already paid off to some extent".

The district council of Weilheim-Schongau has already approved the criteria for the reactivation of the Fuchstalbahn and a potential analysis, only the district council of Landsberg is still missing.

Spokesman Harald Baumer thanked him for his contribution to public relations and remembered his colleague Hans Schütz, who died this year and who initiated much of what is now in motion - "we really miss him".

2,000 euros from the foundation go to the Arbeiterwohlfahrt (AWO).

The Corona years would have hit the Schongau branch badly.

Because none of the regular events could take place, there was no income.

"But the rent and maintenance costs continue, we had to live on the substance," says Chairwoman Barbara Karg.

She thanked for the donation and promised: "We will continue."

The music school will also continue to be supported - for the next generation

2,000 euros also go to the Schongau music school, specifically for the purchase of musical instruments for the youngsters.

Club board member Erwin Krauthauf accepted the check.

"The music school association is not a sure-fire success, the income is not sufficient." Krautauf referred to the enormous growth of the music school in the past year, one is represented in almost all communities in the area.

The costs, for example for the equipment of the wind class, are usually financed through donations and friends of the music school.

"And we will not stop coming back," he said.

The action alliance "Pro Hospital Schongau" was also supported

The group "Schongau revives" was also taken into account, which in turn had actively supported the "Action Alliance Pro Hospital".

Although the Board of Trustees discussed it, "the money is well invested, as you can see from the outcome of the referendum," says Sluyterman.

Sandra Stöhr and Daniela Puzzovio accepted the €500 check.

The deputy mayor thanked on behalf of the action alliance that it was only a small group of 15 people.

"It was a big effort, in the beginning we financed everything from our own wallets." They were happy to be able to help the action alliance in the background.

There was no honorary award this year.

Because of Corona, Manfred Wodarczyk received his award late - namely only this summer.

The distribution of the community foundation from the two previous years did not initially take place in person.
