During the year 2022, the Ministry of Public Works and Housing focused its work on plans, policies, programs, projects, and initiatives that help develop the building, construction and construction sector, and allocate a number of housing. It also worked to support production centers with machinery, equipment, and tools, and train and qualify professional and technical human cadres.
General Organization for Housing:
Allocating 522 homes for subscribers to the alternative housing project in the governorate of Damascus, within the second regulatory area (Al-Basilia City and 1482 homes in the labor housing project in a number of governorates, and 70 sub-divisions were allocated in the 162-division Al-Amal suburb of Hama).
In early 2023, the Foundation will allocate 6,550 homes, of which 1,483 are for workers, and 5,067 are for other housing programs (youth, workers, savings) in a number of governorates.
With regard to the Foundation’s citizen service centers, procedures have been re-engineered and simplified for 36 services, of which 7 new services have been newly incorporated. A branch of the Citizen Service Center has also been opened in the Qudsaya suburb.
Vocational training centers:
More than 230 people graduated from the courses of training centers in a number of governorates, and 47 trainees were screened.
Completion of the rehabilitation of the vocational training center building in Damascus - Jobar.
Opening a vocational training center in Aleppo, and setting up a training course in it with a new vision and updated curricula.
The General Authority for Real Estate Development and Investment:
The authority continued to work on establishing real estate development companies, as the number of companies that obtained initial license approval reached 9 companies, and 73 companies obtained final license approval. Events, while it was announced that 4 updated areas will be implemented.
General Company for Building and Development:
Rehabilitation and maintenance of the Institute of Technical Observers building in Jobar, the youth housing in Lattakia, the building of the Directorate of Technical Services and the building of the Directorate of Wireless Communications in Lattakia, the construction of the railway branch path within the project of the transfer of gravel from the quarries of submissions in Hasaya, and the maintenance of the central laboratory in the National Hospital in Homs and the wastewater treatment plant in Masyaf, Hama Governorate.
The company implemented 105 percent of its production plan, at a value of 106.954 billion Syrian pounds, and implemented its investment plan by 100 percent.
General Company for Engineering Studies:
– Applying project management concepts (BMP) to most projects and tracking them, establishing a spatial data office, localizing the work environment using (BEM) building information modeling technology, and following up the implementation of specialized training courses in all engineering fields in the company’s training and qualification center.
The General Company for Water Projects:
The most important projects completed by the company this year are the project of irrigating the town of Khanaser and four villages in the Al-Sin Jub Ghabsha area in the countryside of Aleppo, the Abu Houri treatment plant in the countryside of Homs, the Adra Al-Omaliyah water network project in the countryside of Damascus, and the treatment plant in Amra in the countryside of Tartous.
General Company for Roads and Bridges:
Maintenance of the Damascus-Daraa highway, rehabilitation of the long runway with the annex at Damascus International Airport, and maintenance of the Homs Phosphate Road.
The General Company for Electricity and Communication Works:
The company completed the extension of the 230 kV line in Hasya Yabroud, the 20 kV line in Khan Sheikhoun, the 400 kV line in Hama north of Homs, the lighting of the municipal stadium in Hama, the maintenance of the pumping line in the mines, the installation of an antenna switching center in the wells, the maintenance of the aerial line and the railway in the Sharkia mines, and the installation of Towers for the Euphrates Oil Company.
– The percentage of the company’s implementation of its plan in 2022 reached 105 percent, with a value that, until last November, exceeded 13 billion Syrian pounds.
Regional Planning Authority:
Completion of a project to modernize and develop the national framework for regional planning and the regional plan for the coastal region, in addition to updating the slum housing map.
