The Secretary for Labor and Welfare, Sun Yuhan, said on a radio program today (28th) that the advantages and attractiveness of Hong Kong and Singapore are different, and it is not appropriate to directly compare the plans of the two places.

He believes that most people come to Hong Kong through the list of top 100 universities. Those who are approved can stay in Hong Kong for two years without having a job. If they find a job with an annual salary of more than 2 million, the second visa will last for 6 years, which is attractive.

The "Global Talents Program" will be implemented today. Sun Yuhan said that a review will be conducted within one year to see whether graduates from famous universities in specific disciplines will be considered in addition to graduates from the world's top 100 universities.

As for the current "Excellent Talents Program", as of November this year, a total of 13,000 applications have been received. Sun Yuhan said that this is a new high since the program was launched. After the abolition of the two-year quota for the Talented Talents Program, the number of applicants has also increased.

He mentioned that the current talent list only includes 13 majors, and the authorities are conducting a review, which is expected to be completed in the first quarter of next year, and the scope of coverage will be expanded if necessary.

When asked how to retain talents, Sun Yuhan said that Hong Kong has re-entered the international stage. All walks of life need talents and there are many development opportunities. The government welcomes Hong Kong people to return at any time, and will also increase educational resources.
