The anniversary year is over, but the list of challenges is still long.

Haimhausen's Mayor Peter Felbermeier is looking forward to the unique opportunity to get a real town center in the new year.

Mr. Felbermeier, how would you sum up this year in one sentence?

Peter Felbermeier: We had a difficult constellation and are courageously looking ahead.

The 1250th anniversary was certainly a difficult constellation.

Has the festive year turned out as beautiful as you had imagined?

Yes of course.

We had a lot of volunteer work and a lot of different events.

At the beginning of the festival year, the New Year's concert had to be cancelled, which will now be made up for in January.

It got off to a rocky start, but it's been an outstanding year for the community.

What made you particularly proud this year?

The cohesion.

You don't always agree, sometimes you argue.

But when things get tight, there is only cohesion and encouragement.

You could see that during the festival week when the festival host canceled at short notice.

People accepted the lack of service and waited patiently to eat when we organized the party on our own.

The citizens said: Better that way than not at all.

The host's cancellation wasn't the only problem.

How are the troubled times in the world affecting Haimhausen?

With a view to the war in Ukraine, the really troubled times are yet to come.

Housing refugees will be a challenge.

In the Ukraine, the winters are even harder than here, and there many families are already sitting on their packed suitcases.

Haimhausen has so far taken responsibility for taking in refugees and has been at the forefront in the Dachau district.

Are you now raising your finger and saying that other churches need to do more?

My space

Subjectively yes, but you also have to realize that some communities are not exactly blessed with infrastructure.

There is no bakery, no supermarket and no public transport.

The non-mobile help seekers are then 100 percent dependent on helpers.

However, the pressure of refugees will increase and all communities will have to be receptive.

So Haimhausen remains at the top of the receiving municipalities?

No question.

It is also not excluded that we will have to use municipal gyms.

Regardless of the immigration policy - I'm not satisfied - our job now is to house people.

Are you worried that the new sports hall in Haimhausen could be misused?

I hardly dare say it, but our hall is actually predestined with the sanitary facilities, canteen or retreat rooms.

Of course that would be bitter for our students and clubs.

Do you fear it will come to that?

Yes.

Let's look ahead to 2023. With what goals for the church do you start the year?

We have to advance the consumer market at Kramer Kreuz and the Amperberg construction area.

And then we have the urban planning competition on the former brewery site.

We also need a future-oriented solution for the fire brigade because the site is too small.

The planning for the Ottershausen village community center must also go ahead.

In addition, we have two forest potential areas for wind turbines.

Perhaps this is possible with citizen participation.

We don't need an investor from JWD.

In communities not far away, such as Garching or Ismaning, wind turbines are currently failing due to the airport's radar zone.

Do you also fear difficulties?

In 2013, the planning was still based on how not to do something.

At the time, the airport had no concerns, but the wind turbines have gotten taller.

At that time we were at a total height of 200 meters, now it is 250 meters.

The airport will only comment on concrete building applications.

What can citizens look forward to in 2023?

We have some club anniversaries and festivities.

And then we can create a real town center on the former brewery site.

We are a street village and have set up various squares.

But so far we have not managed to create a town center like Altomünster or Indersdorf.

We have a similar chance with the brewery site as Dachau has with the MD site.

We have invited eight outstanding architectural firms to the competition.

How is it decided?

With the four best we do an extra round because it's about the best solution for Haimhausen.

For example, one judge comes from Copenhagen and may only know us from the map.

At the end of the year, the mayor has one wish...

My greatest wish is that we live in peace again.

There's a lot going wrong in the world.

And not everyone should see what the other has more.

People should be happy and healthy again.

In addition, the Free State of Bavaria should face the imbalances of many municipalities.

The pressure is extremely high in the Munich area.
